3D is the new big thing in movies, and now TV as well - what does everyone think of it?

I've seen Avatar in 3D in the cinema, and a football/soccer match in 3D at the pub, and I have to say, I'm not convinced. I really don't think it adds much to movies, maybe a couple of scenes in Avatar looked good in 3D, but overall I didn't think it made much difference to my experience of the film. As for the football match, I think that fast paced sport doesn't suit 3D, as it seemed like the actions was moving too fast for my eyes to properly appreciate the 3D effect.

I don't think 3D is for me, but what do you guys and girls reckon?

Well I've never seen anything in this "3D" What is 3D anyways? care to explain, I've heard people say this word before but not really haven't gotten a clue what it's about. :o

3D: where you wear plastic glasses and have to get to the theater early so that you can find a seat in the exact center of the theater to appreciate the full effects.

It makes it so that everything zooms out at you, but you have to sit dead center or else it'll look strange or semi 3D. I think that's why you aren't getting the full effects of 3D, Craig.

My opinion: nice gimmick, not worth $10 premium to movie tickets though.

I've seen some good 3D and some not so good 3D. Give it some time and it will get better (and hopefully cheaper).
Speaking of 3D, I'm can't wait to see the 3DS (to be revealed at the upcoming E3). I'm betting the 3D on it will be awesome.

Only seen it once in the movie theaters, i guess it was good but iuno how different it would have been without the 3D :x

Watched two movies in Three-Dee...didn't think much of it. (my aunt came with me for one movie...she ended up nauseous half the time :/ )

I too think it's just a gimmick in its current form. But who knows how the tech will improve and change in the future. (I'm thinking hi-def holoprojector :D )
