In an attempt to revive polls of the day and increase activity I will start off with the topic of anime cons.
So, about how many anime conventions have you attended?

I've heard about them for awhile, but yesterday was the first time I went to one. It was a lot of fun; saw cool cosplay, got some awesome stuff, and hung out with my friends. I really do hope to go to more of them in the future.

I recently made them a habit to go to them every year :3 It's basically the only places I can go full Otaku without having to go to Japan. Also, some pretty popular bands perform at our conventions (FLOW and LM.C performed last year, for example), along with premiers for new series (They Aired Roberta's Blood Trail before it was released at AX).

I haven't gone to any anime conventions, I wanna go to one someday, though.

I've attended 3 so far. And to speak of the devil, Animania this coming weekend! Which would make it 4. Ahh can't wait, going to be awesome, they even have a Maid Cafe there this year!

What Kagecode said. I can't wait! Maid cafe will be so cash but I'm mostly looking forward to the hella cheap second rate manga. I'm sure I'll love it anyway. XD

Guess I'll just take my anime convention indifferentiallity (that definitely isn't word) and exit the thread.

But seriously, why should you want to go to one? Can't anime be something that someone watches on an individual level. without having to be forced to participate in mass gatherings?

That's not how I feel, but I don't 'really want to' go to a con, if there's one local to me, then I might go - but if I don't, then no worries. As far as I'm concerned, my enjoyment of anime will go on, whether or not I meet up in RL with people that share the enjoyment.

I love the spirit of a con. Its great meeting so many enthusiastic people and it always turns out with something funny happening. One con I went to a mass carameldansen dance group of hundreds of people at the con started up. This was animania 2009 of course. =D

I go because I like to be part of the fandom, the fandom is one of my favourite things about anime. I wouldn't call myself an otaku, I'm not THAT much of an enthusiast, but the culture can be interesting... and often disturbing too (hehe), but thats besides the point. What I'm saying is I love the anime con, and it fits me fine.

I'm not forcing anything on you here, just putting out my thoughts. ^^'
