Another player to think about is Zoom Player. After you load the software it loads\recommend the codex's you're system is missing. I used it on my 386 computer for years.

I am having problems with the larger .MKV files as well. That's what brought me to AS to begin with (to get .AVI). I'll look into that KM player though. Thx!

My problem isn't actually with .mkvs in themselves, my problem is how to convert them. No program I use seems to want to do it.

I recommend using MPC-HC + CCCP + CoreAVC, that's what I always use!

K-lite codec pack is the best! No problems playing mkv files. Problem is though, Media player classic doesn't run smoothly with net books. Oh well, at least i can still watch.
