Just found this one and didn't know if I should laugh or start cooking. This dog is really not impressed at all by that melonpan. Whenever he looks at this he has just an such a disgusted expression...
Oh well, for the ones searching on how to do these octopuses, here's some guide to bento.

Uh...yeah, see, I'm 1/4 Japanese, my grandfather was full Japanese, but born in Canada, and my Great Grandma (my Dads side of the family) and her husband were also born in Canada, I think it was either their parents, or grandparents that came over from Japan.
Anyway, jumping ahead, our Dad wanted us to know how to use chopsticks, so we all know how to, and my Great Grandma, before she started suffering the heavier effects of her alzeimers, taught me and my oldest brother how to prepare a number of things, from Tempura batter, to Rice Bags, Rice fish cake, Rice Balls, Seaweed Rolls, Ramen, Tea, and how to make a complete bento, so yeah...we kinda grew up knowing that whole side of the familys dishes, oh, almost forgot Takoyaki! we never did get shown anything else, unfortunately, her memory had been failing even at that time.
So anyway, I have tried stuff from anime, cause we ate it growing up, and for thpse who want help with rice, I suggest a good rice cooker, wirh multiple cooking options (AKA Digital Rice Cooker), and the correct grain of rice. Not all rice cooks the same, so finding the correct rice will also help, in some peoples cases, you may need to go to the next nearest major store, usually not in the same town, city people will likely be able to stay in the same city, just look around the stores and try different rice, but I know from expirience about the possability of towns not having the rice you need/want, cause my home town was that way, we had to drive 4 hours to the next city to find the right rice.
I should also note, if you have a local asian market, you will likely find everything you need there, especially if you don't want to make your own noodles for Ramen, and they can sometimes stock fresh fish. This I discovered after moving to a major city mind you.

I really want to try sushi, but the thought of eating raw fish is just something I don't think I can handle. Especially with having a really weak immune system.

I've had sushi several times, it isn't as bad as it sounds.
But I'm almost always willing to try something once before I say I don't like it.
You never know what the next thing that you will try will turn into your next favorite meal.

I bought my daughter a Japanese bento cookbook for Christmas and we made these tonight.
Roasted rice balls, beef rolls and somen stir fry
It was all really good and fun to make.

This sure looks yummy. Wanted to try out some mochi for new year but in the end I stayed with traditional swiss cheese fondue. I guess partys aren't the best time to try out new stuff. But for next year I'll be prepared.

Thanks! We had a lot of fun making it and eating it.
She took the leftovers in her bento box that I bought her last year and took it to school.
The other girls thought it was pretty cool from what she told me.
