As the topic description says: don't blame me if you didn't watch this 'till the end and will now know how it ends!
Okay, since even this season didn't have much of interest for me I finally watched Fate/Stay Night. It was quite interesting and had some nice battles. But I really didn't get the end. Maybe it will be clearer after the second season which was announced not so long ago.
So for the moment being, how are your thoughts? Why does Emiya try to destroy the grail, since he knows that even his father didn't manage to destroy it ten years ago if that means to lose Saber?

it's the genius who figured it out, all by himself nonetheless, that people die if they r killed.........so it's not ur fault that his actions r beyond ur comprehension...........just kidding............he destroyed the grail because wth the grail destroyed the war 2 obtain the grail would also end 4 good...............as u know (according 2 fsn that is) the holy grail ain't holy @ all rather an embodiment of all thing evil...........& it's a hero's duty 2 vanquish the evil & that's wht the greatest hero in the history did (as shirou is actually archer)...........hope that cleared things.............if not just let me know 'kay.........I'll try my best.............

Hm, I can't help but to think that repeating same things that didn't work in the past are quite stupid, not heroic (it would only be heroic if the hero dies doing stupid things), but on the other hand Emiya wasn't really clever from the beginning (what fool would throw himself bare handed in the line of fire, when someone who is obviously more capable of fighting was just absolutely defeated, no matter if it's a girl or not). I guess I shouldn't think to deep about it then. After all it's impossible for girls to know what guys are thinking anyway.

now now don't just group all the guys in the world with that guy...........he really is something out of this world (whether that's a good thing or not is still controversial so lets not get in2 that)...........important part is whether u enjoyed it or not.............if u did then I'll recommend u watching the movie (skip the tv reproduction by all means though)...........it lacks the story but the action scenes r quite good..........

There was that whole idea about him wanting to be a hero and 'for the greater good' stuff (that kept rehashing over and over again). And he is a bit stubborn (hero doesn't necessarily equate to 'genius') so he would still pursue the destruction of the Grail (as it perpetuates the cycle of deadly competition and collateral damage) even if his adoptive father didn't succeed prior.
As for the 2nd season, I thought it was more of a prequel series, unless there's info on the contrary.

Playing the game makes things clear, I've only seen the two OVAs that sum up the series, and I wasn't really impressed.
UBW was a much better adaption of the Tohsaka route, if anyone who watched the original series hasn't UBW, I'd really recommend you give it a watch.

yeah, the second season will be a prequel, so I hope to get things cleared up about the grail-destroying-thing of his father. Actually the series wasn't as bad and there are stupier heros (e.g. Kazuya from Gosick, who made me really angry), but in the end it wasn't anything special to me. Heros don't have to be genious, you're right, but there's something like the use of common sense that would be helpful to find the hero more sympathic.
So I looked up for that movie gwyllgi mentioned (I guess that's UBW?) since it seems to be better, but there seemed to be a problem with utw-encode. So I searched the forum for sugi-sans mp4-encode but can't find it. Since it's quite a big file I don't want to dl more than one, which one would you recommend (no, avi is no option for me)?
edit: thanks, Craig.

I'm giving up. Tried to watch the movie three times now, but I guess I should have watched this instead of the series. Now I'm just bored about seeing same things again. Maybe I'll try it after watching the new series.
