#1

I suggest that AnimeSenshi should start uploading their XviD/AVI re-encodes to HotFile and/or MediaFire.

Just the latest news:
Closed
Megaupload
VideoBB
Locked in US
Filejungle
bitshare.com
Uploaded.to (and FBI searching for owners, who disappeared)
VideoZ (even in countries that are only affiliated to USA)
Only own strorage possible
Fileserve (will apparently close, no more premium to buy)
Filesonic
Deleting files
Filejungle
FilePost
4shared
Under investigation
Filesonic
4shared
Mediafire (has to testify within the next 90 days)
org torrent (will probably vanish within 30 days)
Hotfile has ever been a very fast deleter so uploading there doesn't make any sense either. Like I said. Wait a bit 'till everything calms down to claim another hoster. This insanity won't last forever.

I wan't both Filefactory & Mediafire & ifile for AVI
i think uploading unlicensed Anime on mediafire is safe
we should only think twice about Anime that is licensed by US before uploading.

I only suggested HotFile and MediaFire because they are the only DDL sites I know of that I get 1-2 megabytes per second download speed with, everywhere else is super slow 100-500 kBps.

"We" should think twice about the stuff we download. Only because it's more convinient to pursue the ones who upload or store the stuff doesn't mean they can't come after simple downloaders, if they want.
Just to repeat myself again and again, MU was shut down before SOPA/PIPA, so this has nothing to do with US-copyrights. Wherever on this world there is at least one copyrightholder he can get after you, wherever on this world you may live if he really wants. There's no such thing like "safety", it is only an illusion.

Any chance to continue to use Depositfiles? Most of the current (surviving) file sharing hosts use javascript redirectors to initiate downloading, while Depositfiles allows a mirror link.
I purchased a one month membership with Uploading (because it seemed that that was going to be the server of choice) but I can't get a download manager (Free Download Manager) to take the redirection- it either downloads the redirection file, or I get an error. I have to accept the download prompt. The same with Sendmyway, with the added annoyance that it seems the institution I download from usually may have a firewall exclusion; I can download using a download prompt for free, but log in, I get an error when I try to load the link. I'm going to give Uploaded.to a go, but it's more expensive that the others, but at least I can purchase a 48 hour slot, and not have to purchase a month's lot.
Not trying to complain, just outlining my experiences. I had a Megaupload lifetime membership, but in my case, I purchased mine five or six years ago, and well got my money's worth out of it.
BTW, it's been one week since the Internet fell apart.

Wouldn't it be better to try a multi-premium service like this one (I don't use it since I'm fine with free speed, but there are probably many more services like this) for one month to find out which one is the best service for you if you don't know good friends who will share their account with you for a certain time to find out what will really work on your system before wasting your money on so much different premium accs?

Unfortunately the only way I can see if a file sharing service works in the situation I am in is to have to trial it in premium. The institution I am using caps their download stream- however, they don't cap the numbers of streams, so premium is better for me. You're right, it does seem like a waste of money, but it's better to lose a few dollars there and chalk it up to experience than be like the people who purchased long term premium memberships and then to find that all the money they spent was wasted.
I've never tried a multi-premium service. I look at them and think that there has to be a catch. Perhaps I'll look at them now.

yeah, that's what I think too and I wouldn't recommend to use it for longterm. But if it's just for testing out a certain time I think it' might be a good idea.

Well, I just signed in for an account at MyDownloaders (haven't applied for Premium yet), and I note already that they are having problems with uploaded.to files. I also signed up for Depositfiles (not Gold yet) and I'll see how they'll perform at my institution.

This is your reason for not choosing HotFile and/or MediaFire?
