A-Kon 2011
Posted 12 Jun 2011
I attened this anime convention over the past weekend and needless to say I had a lot of fun! Taking Neo's idea I thought I'd share my highlights and photos with all!
Highlights would be getting Kyle Herbert's autograph (dub voice of Kamina
) and getting a resonable deal on a Haruhi figure.
Here's a few pictures for your enjoyment. The quality of some aren't that good... =\

This one's cool, someone had two fully functioning R2-D2s, with remote controllers.

Star Driver - Final Review
Posted 4 Apr 2011
Having finished airing yesterday, I have now taken the time to review my thoughts on the series as a whole and write up a short review (I won't be going into the minor details).

Story:
Mechas, seals, end of the world, etc, okay so not the most original plot but still enjoyable. I'm not picky about originality or use of cliches, so I have few problems with it. The ending left a few threads dangling which was a slight disappointment though.
8/10
Animation:
I thoroughly enjoyed the animation and art. The mecha battles were the highlight of each episode and were beautifully done.
10/10
Music:
Fine music throughout. Monochrome stuck out in particular as an excellent piece. I was thrilled to hear it used in the final battle.
9/10
Character:
Takuto makes for a strong main character. Never giving up and filled with courage (radiance too =P). I found his 'transformation' sequence to be humorous. Sugata was a good actor, but I wasn't fooled by his supposed betrayal. Wako wasn't particularly interesting, but she wasn't annoying or useless.
7/10
Enjoyment:
As it can be concluded by reading this review, I enjoyed Star Driver very much. Excellent mecha battles, and... that was the part I enjoyed the most. =P
10/10
Concluding statements:
If you dislike anime that are not complex, unique/original, plot-intensive, and thought-provoking, then Star Driver is not for you. It's simply fun and entertaining.
I would have liked a bit more closure in the last episode, but other than that, no complaints.
Overall Score: 9/10 -

Haruhi 10th Novel Update: Extras included!
Posted 26 Feb 2011
Just thought I'd post this interesting article from ANN! It's about bonus content to be shipped with the 10th Haruhi novel. =D
Quote
The publisher Kadokawa Shoten has confirmed that the limited first edition of Nagaru Tanigawa's next Haruhi Suzumiya light novel, Suzumiya Haruhi no Kyōgaku (The Surprise of Haruhi Suzumiya), will ship on May 25 with a special booklet containing a short story by Tanigawa. In addition to the short story, the booklet's 64 color pages will feature illustration work by novel artist Noizi Ito, contributions by artists Gaku Tsugano (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya manga) and Puyo (The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi chan), and a behind-the-scenes account by the original editor of the light novel series.
According to Monday's final issue of Kadokawa Shoten's The Sneaker magazine, the booklet's short story is called "Rainy Day," and it is set during the protagonist Kyon's time in middle school. Tanigawa had personally written the "Someday in the Rain" episode of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya television anime series.
Due to its 600-page length, Suzumiya Haruhi no Kyōgaku will actually ship in two volumes in Japan; the limited first edition will shrink-wrap both volumes along with the special booklet. Kadokawa Shoten announced that Kyōgaku will have a worldwide simultaneous release, but it is not shipping on May 25 in all 13 countries that currently have the light novel series in print. It will ship on that day in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Korea.
Hardly a simultaneous release if it's not shipped on the same date to all countries of release. =\
But as long as it is eventually released that's what counts. =)
I hope that those extras will be available for all 13 countries, not just Japan...
Only 88 days until May 25!
