What do you hate about anime?
Posted 1 May 2012
I know we all generally like anime here but I'm sure many of us have certain anime tropes, cliche's, or genres we don't like.
What is it that you don't like and why.
For me I don't like:
Shounen Ai - I don't loath it's existence or anything, but being a guy it just isn't my thing.
Tsundere - More specifically those that are all Tsun and no dere. I keep seeing this more and more. Shows get based on other works and only cover up to the first arc.
At the end of the first she starts to open up, but one episode doesn't make up for a season of wanting to slap the shit out of her.\
Circle Anime - This one is kinda my own term. I use it to describe a show where the plot doesn't actually go anywhere. Often they are 12 episode Rom/Coms.
ie. first 6 episodes are spent developing the characters and setting. Something happens that changes the plot or characters relationship. Spend last 6ish episodes fixing it.
Show ends with everything exactly the way that it started. -
Steam Inventory and Great Gift Pile
Posted 21 Dec 2011
For those of you who don't, Steam, the greatest thing in PC gaming, is having the great gift pile. Every day they are having a new batch of games on sale and there are also several publisher packs on sale as well. They are also posting 6 achievements every day and completing these gives you either a free game from the gift pile or a piece of coal. 7 pieces of coal can be traded for a free random game from the gift pile, or you can hold on to your coal and each piece gives you an entry into the epic holiday giveaway on January 2nd.
You can read more about all of this on the steam page here. http://store.steampo...om/holidaysale/
So what is the purpose of this thread?
1) To simply inform people of the sales/gifts
2) For people to list their inventory and potentially trade
3) offer help for getting achievements.
I'll start it off with my inventory (some won others just extras i have)
Half Life 2
Amnesia the Dark Descent
Portal
Section 8: Prejudice
Stalker call of Pripyat
5 pieces of coal
25% off valve cupon -
Killing Floor
Posted 11 Dec 2011
Killing floor is an awesome survival co-op shooter for the pc. You can find the steam page Here. It is kinda like left 4 dead if you just cut out the story and made it class based with leveling. Being that it is an independent game it isn't extremely pretty but it still looks pretty good. It is also one of the top played games on steam despite being from 2009. It also still has an active dev community with a new major update just a few days ago for the Christmas event. If you are a fan of co-op FPS you should give it a try, if you have it past you steam name so we can all play together.
Classes in the game include Medic, Support Specialist, Commando, Sharp Shooter, Berserker, Pyro, and Demo. Each class gets it's own perks to different weapons such as increased ammo or clip size, discounted prices, or more damage. In lower difficulty games you can solo a bit but in later waves you really need to work as a team with each class take a specific role.

Eureka
Posted 9 Aug 2011

Quote
The sleepy Pacific Northwest town of Eureka is hiding a mysterious secret. The government has been relocating the world’s geniuses and their families to this rustic town for years where innovation and chaos have lived hand in hand. U.S. Marshal Jack Carter (Colin Ferguson) stumbles upon this odd town after wrecking his car and becoming stranded there. When the denizens of the town unleash an unknown scientific creation, Carter jumps in to try to restore order and consequently learns of one of the country’s best kept secrets.
Syfi announced that they won't be doing a 6th season for the show. It makes me kinda sad. It doesn't come as much of a surprise to me though. Now there is one less good scifi show out there though and that isn't a good thing. -
What video player(s) do your use?
Posted 4 Aug 2011
I can't believe that i didn't make this topic before.
Personally I use KMplayer as my primary media player with cccp. It has a shit ton of features which is both it's strength and it's weakness. You can tweak just about any setting, but that also means that there are a lot of menus to go through. Also a lot of features you want to be on are not by default so you have to hunt for them.
My back up player is Splayer which is similar to KMplayer but doesn't have nearly as many options, but all the settings you need are on by default so it will work well strait out with no tweaking needed.
